Boat Fest Banter...

It was that time of year again - the time of the Portsoy Boat Festival.Whilst last year was spent posing with groups of sailors in stereotypical old skool navy outfits, and trying to look cool beside the newest edition to our fleet - RE8 - this year was slightly less... eventful.

We had one casualty, and even then it was a minor, which to be honest made a fine change in the circumstances. A wee girl had fallen from the "bucking bull" ride (I was dying to get a shot of it) and had grazed her thigh as a result. It was quite an impressive graze actually, with a large bruise forming about it. So we used the power of ice packs and let her go, having completed our only bit if work for the day.

The rest of the sunny Sunday was spent traversing across Portsoy, from the harbour (where we saw dolphins playing by one of the boats!) to Wally Green (where I tried ostrich and never will again) right up to Loch Soy (where we danced and turned RE6 and the spinal board into a drum kit) and back down to the harbour again. We discovered the extortionate prices of goodies, for example £8 for four 99 ice creams! I mean come on, what a rip off! You'd think we'd at least get discount for being first aiders...
In fact, the highlight of the day was teasing Graeme about a new girl he's got his eye on. I won't say anymore... =)

So, the next big thing coming up for us is the Forres Highland Games.I remember the scorcher we had last year during the event, so hopefully this year will be the same. Top up the tan and all that.
Just slightly gutted because T in the Park is kicking off this weekend too (for those who don't know, which I doubt are few) and of course, I put my name forward.This was all good and well, but now I've been told I'm out of the game cos I'm too young.I'm 18 five weeks on Saturday - surely that's close enough? Why should it matter when I'm only a first aider anyway, it's not like I'm gonna be going for swindling drink and drugs.
I could fib about my age. Besides, most folk think I'm 18 or 19, or even in my twenties. Why do I have to skip this awesome showcase just cos some eejit's decided the minimum age should apply to first aiders too.
Ok, I can see some fairness in that, but all the same, they could have a heart...
